A mikva is the most important element in a Jewish community, and many blessings for family health and happiness are promised to people who pay for its construction. Importantly, having a local mikva immediately will provide a safer option for women who don’t feel comfortable driving through the dark hilly forest at night.

The shul is where the community comes together in prayer and hope. We’ll need to fill it with tables, chairs, siddurim, and an aron for our beautiful Torah.

When the children are safe, the parents can build. Having a local daycare will allow our young parents to find their maximum potential in work, community, and family life. These funds will go to a small daycare building, and all the toys and supplies needed to keep the toddlers happy and growing.

Playgrounds are the cornerstone of young community life. It’s where children and parents alike meet and build friendships that matter. In the very first neighborhood, we’ll start off with a simple and fun playground of climbing equipment, slides, swings, and park benches.

Starting off on a hilltop far from the nearest community, surrounded by forests and ancient wells, there will be plenty of danger around – particularly for adventurous little kids. We also don’t yet know if our uphill forest location will hold desert thieves back or not. Building a fence around the Pioneers Neighborhood will do the important life-saving job of keeping the small kids in, and the big dangers out.

It’s most important that our community have strong leadership and spiritual guides. We hope to hire a Rabbi and Rebbetzin who will understand both the Israeli and English-speaking members of our community, and inspire everyone to the greater good.

The initial management of our education resort’s development will take research, investment, and time. We hope to be able to dedicate a capable manager to the job until the project begins to bring in income and becomes self-sufficient.

We hope to launch our student program within a few months of moving into Ohr Chabad, so that students can get a real experience of building a yishuv from the ground up. The students will need an equipped dorm, kitchen, classroom, and materials, as well as a salary for a program director. Once the program is established, we hope it will become self-sufficient.
